2002 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
DESCRIPTION
The Guyanese Association of Houston will award two $500
scholarships to students graduating from a public or private high school in the
Houston area. The recipients must be accepted at an accredited
University, and enrolled in a course of study, which leads to a
Bachelor’s Degree.
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants
must be Graduating seniors of a public or private high school in the
Houston area.
- Applicants
must provide a certified copy of their high school transcript, which must
include grades from the first semester of the twelfth grade.
- Applicants
must provide a copy of the official SAT or ACT report if those scores are
not on the high school transcript.
- Applicants
must provide two letters of recommendation from two teachers who have
taught you during the past two years.
- Applicants
must achieve Matriculation in an accredited University or College by
September 2002.
- Applicants
must complete the GAH Scholarship application form, and include an essay
(100-200 words) summarizing professional goals and proposed college major.
- An
overall grade of A, B, B- or a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 –
4.0 is required for high school graduates.

AWARDING THE SCHOLARSHIPS
All applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the
scholarship committee of the Guyanese Association of Houston. The recipients of
the scholarships will be notified by May 15th, 2002 and be formally
recognized at the Guyanese Independence & Scholarship Awards Banquet on
June 8th, 2002.
Scholarship checks will be made payable to the
recipients, with disbursement subject to verification of enrollment.
